About The Role

The Head of Finance and Administration will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and administrative functions of the organization. This includes financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, procurement, and compliance. The role also ensures the effective management of administrative services, including office operations, human resources support, and organizational governance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong leadership and financial management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that support the organization’s goals.
  • Prepare, monitor, and control annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and asset management to ensure financial sustainability.

Administration & Operations

  • Oversee administrative operations, including office management, procurement, and logistics.
  • Ensure the efficient and secure management of company assets and records.
  • Develop and enforce administrative policies, procedures, and systems to support operational excellence.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and audits.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, legal advisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records and reports for board meetings and strategic planning.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the finance and administration team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Support the HR function in payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and integrity across the organization.

Requirements

  • A Chartered Accountant or Master’s level degree with the equivalent of 12 years’ (15 years preferred) experience in financial management, with a minimum of 5 years direct work experience in an international organization or NGO with a senior-level responsibility for operations and finance managing awards of similar size.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and electronic mail along with data entry experience), and proficiency in Accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated strong management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills, with proven ability to function effectively with donors and multiple host-country counterparts (public and private sector).
  • Proven expertise in finance, accounting and auditing, including automated financial systems.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle
